Margaret Brennan: Right. Well, the other weapon he has is energy of course, tracking this potential sabotage on the gas pipeline. I also want to ask you about — when I was in office in 2017, the first time the United States gave offensive weapons to Ukraine, I remember when you were put in this position where I had to explain a conversation at the time — President Trump had with Russian officials in the office Oval, where the tip is mentioned. And you- you called it a perfect fit at the time. Given what’s happening now in this investigation of classified material in Mar-a-Lago, did you ever feel uneasy about the former president’s handling of classified information?

lt. MA General Human Resource Management: Well, Margaret, remember, I left in February, March 2018. But while I was there, I had no problems handling confidential information. And what you’re really talking about is a session where the president didn’t reveal classified information, but someone leaked it. Then it was published in the newspaper. So the classified information — I think it’s important to go back to that period, and providing the spear of defense capabilities to the Ukrainians was really important, and the argument that I made to President Trump at the time, was, hey, those people who tell you it’s provocative to provide Ukraine with defensive capabilities, actually What excites Putin is weakness. He was convinced by this argument. I believe that this argument is still valid today.

McMaster was rewriting history. It wasn’t a leak to the media. It was a leak of Trump as he babbled at the Russians as they hosted them in the Oval Office. Trump’s habit was to reveal US secrets while pretending to be a big man.

HR McMaster should have been recalled and corrected for such an egregious mischaracterization of events.

McMaster was defending himself Trump, who asked the CIA to give US secrets to Putin.

Trump is surrounded by enablers, which is why it is up to the rest of the country to deal with it as a national security threat as it is.
