The likely Democratic Senate candidate for Arizona, Rep. Ruben Gallego, has criticized Sen. Kirsten Sinema for abandoning the Democratic Party.
Gallego tweeted in response to Sinema’s decision to sign up as an independent:

The last line in Gallego’s statement is important. Sinema once again puts its own interests and career ambitions ahead of serving the needs of its Arizona constituents.
Both the Democratic and Republican candidates will likely use this point against Sinema in the 2024 campaign.
Kirsten Sinema is a person without party trying to be John McCain at a time when Arizona is changing and not the same place where McCain built and maintained his successful political career.
Sen. Sinema is betting that Democrats will be too afraid of losing her seat in a three-way contest to nominate a female candidate to challenge her.
However, Sinema has burned many bridges with the people she was elected to, and it is very likely that the Arizona Democrats will go Gallego and leave Sinema out in the cold.
Rep. Gallego has been sending powerful messages for months is running, and it seems unlikely that Democrats will support someone who has abandoned their party regardless of who runs in the race in 2024.
Kirsten Sinema may have ended her career in the Senate Bailed by the Democratic Party.
