The Trump Organization has been found guilty of involvement in a criminal tax fraud scheme in New York.

The New York Times reported:

The conviction on all 17 counts resulted, after more than a day of jury deliberation in Manhattan state supreme court, from a long-running scheme in which the Trump Organization doled out casual luxury perks to some executives: apartments, rental Mercedes-Benz cars, even royalties. Private schools for relatives, for which they have not paid any taxes.

A conviction for tax fraud, conspiracy to fraud scheme and falsification of business records hardly constitutes a death sentence for the Trump Organization. The maximum penalty he faces is $1.62 million, a rough miss for Mr. Trump, who has typically generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue during his presidency.

Trump and his prized brand name are now and forever linked to the crime. Trump and his business will be associated with fraud and fraud. It’s a big win for Manhattan DA. It wouldn’t mean the end of Trump’s business, but it did open the door to a potentially larger criminal investigation into the former president and his adult children.

This is a very bad day for Trump and his organization.
