Stars, they’re just like Us — they get invested in the royal family as much as we do!

Celebrities don’t shy away from singing the praises of the royals. Whether it’s gushing over the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, or excitedly anticipating the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle prior to their big day, stars have royal fangirl moments too.

Many high-profile stars, including the Beckhams, Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Reese Witherspoon have been lucky enough to meet or perform with members of the British monarchy over the years. Some count the royal family as great friends and others freak out over their encounters.

Years before Emma Corrin was tapped to play Princess Diana on Netflix’s The Crown, they attended the royal wedding of Prince William and Duchess Kate in 2011, which began their royals’ fever. Corrin told the late-night host at the time that they weren’t always a “massive royal family person,” but things changed after attending the wedding. “I remember 10 years ago, I was 15, I was with my friend Katherine and we got very, very swept up in the royal wedding fever, I think probably because we were both very bored and very single,” the actor continued. “So we decided to go.”

In preparation for the big event at London’s Westminster Abbey, the two friends studied the royal couple’s love story by watching a “made for television” movie about the duo. While they weren’t on the guest list to step foot in the church, Corrin and their friend were just “so excited” to stand in the crowd and watch this special occasion from afar.

Television host James Corden has also been open about his friendship with the royals, and Prince Harry, in particular. The Peter Rabbit star was one of the celebrities that landed a coveted invite to the Invictus Games founder’s wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018. Reliving the event on his late-night CBS talk show, Corden called the event “a picture-perfect day. Windsor Castle, 600 guests, 30,000 flowers — or as Elton John calls it, a Thursday.”

During the Late Late Show With James Corden segment, Corden further reflected on his friendship with Archie and Lili’s dad. “I’ve known Prince Harry about seven years now, and it was wonderful,” he said at the time. “It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve ever been to … It was happy, and it was joyous, it was uplifting . . . Elton was there; he performed some songs in the afternoon.”

The “Million Reasons” singer performed at the 2009 Royal Variety Show where she met Queen Elizabeth and declared herself a “massive fan.”

The Shades of Blue actress described the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as “simply charming” after meeting the royal couple in 2011 at the Bafta Brits to Watch gala in Los Angeles.

The late Queen frontman used the be good friends with Princess Diana. In fact, according to a story via Cleo Rocos’ 2013 memoir, the actress once went partying with Freddie, the Princess of Wales and Kenny Everett and it soon became a “wild night out.” The group had spent the afternoon drinking and watching Golden Girls before going clubbing at the gay cabaret bar, the Royal Vauxhall Tavern in South London. In “mischief mode,” Diana dressed as a “rather eccentrically dressed gay male model” to go incognito, Rocos recalled. Diana and Freddie were allegedly giggling like “naughty schoolchildren” the entire evening.

The former Spice Girl recalled meeting Harry when he was a child. “I met Prince Harry when he was about 10,” she told The Telegraph in 2014. “I’ve seen him grow up and it’s brilliant what he’s done with his life — it’s all for a great cause. He’s shown people he cares and he’s got a great heart and spirit.”

The “Lights” singer performed at William and Kate’s wedding in 2011. A few years later, she met Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in 2014, where she couldn’t hide her happiness as she beamed while posing for pictures with him.

After the musician sang an impromptu number with the Duke of Cambridge and Jon Bon Jovi, the Grammy winner couldn’t help but gush. Speaking with the Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine in 2014, Swift said, “We jumped on the stage and started to sing and then we were really yelling into the microphone and clapping hands. I still can’t believe I’ve sung with Prince William.”

The Theory of Everything star attended Eton College with William growing up. While the actor admits to being friendly with the royal back in the day, they haven’t kept in touch. “He was a pal at school, but I haven’t seen him since school,” Redmayne told Loaded magazine via Daily Mail in 2015. “We were on the same Colts B team in 1997. I always felt slightly sorry for Will because everyone wanted to tackle the future King of England. He took all the hits. … I haven’t seen him since school, but he was a lovely man.”

The “You’re Beautiful” singer frequently runs in royal circles. He once attempted an intimate gathering where Princess Beatrice and Ed Sheeran were also in attendance. He also confirmed a friendship with Harry when a Twitter user questioned where he got a 2016 Invictus Games invitation. Replying via Twitter that May, Blunt replied, “Prince Harry. By text. BOOM!”

The superstar athlete was surprised to see Duchess Kate and Countess Sophie of Wessex at Wimbledon 2016. “It was a good thing that I did not see that they were there,” Williams said at the time. “Maybe I would have gotten a little nervous.”

The Olympian is another good pal of the BetterUp Chief Impact Officer. During a conversation with The Sun in December 2017, Bolt joked that he was ready to throw the royal prince “three” bachelor parties in Kingston, Las Vegas and London. “I know it’s a lot to ask but these are his last nights of freedom,” he continued at the time. “I will personally call Meghan and take responsibility for getting him home safely after each.”

While the Hello Sunshine founder wasn’t always a huge fan of the royals, things changed when she met the Duchess of Cambridge. “I felt relatively immune from the obsession with the royals until a few years ago when I was invited to meet Kate Middleton,” Witherspoon recalled in her Whiskey in a Teacup memoir. “She had just married Prince William, and she was coming to Los Angeles for a fundraiser. I don’t even know how I got so lucky as to receive the invitation. The scream that issued from my lips upon receiving it — you would have thought I was going to die.”

The “Crazy in Love” singer met Harry and Meghan in July 2019 at the Lion King premiere in London. Lip-reading fans at the event believe the singer called the Suits alum “my princess” and gushed that she “loved” the couple. In February of that year, Beyoncé and Jay-Z accepted a BRIT award via video, standing in front of a portrait of The Bench author wearing a tiara.

After more than seven years of friendship, Corden and his wife, Julia, were lucky enough to score invites to Harry’s nuptials. The friendship has only continued to grow since the redheaded royal and his wife Meghan relocated to California. Once they were settled in 2021, Harry joined the comedian on The Late Late Show to take a tour around the City of Angels.

Long before Corrin played a princess on Netflix’s The Crown, they were just another royals fan. Speaking with Jimmy Kimmel in June 2021, the actor dished about their attendance in the crowds at William and Kate’s wedding. “My friend Katherine had this great inflatable daffodil,” the My Policeman star remembered. “When we were watching the footage back to see if we could get a glimpse of ourselves, we couldn’t see ourselves but we did see — in the middle of these crowds — this massive inflatable daffodil that she was holding up.”

Despite the fact that the Obamas didn’t attend the royal wedding, Barack congratulated Harry and Meghan on their engagement on Twitter. The former first lady has also hung out with Prince Harry several times, even introducing him at the USO Warrior and Family Center at the Fort Belvoir military base by saying, “All right, ladies, Prince Harry is here. Don’t act like you don’t notice!”

“Your Majesty, thank you … for the warm friendship that you’ve shown both Michelle and myself on both of our visits to Buckingham Palace,” the former president once told Queen Elizabeth at a state dinner in London. “I bring warm greetings from Malia and Sasha, who adored you even before you let them ride on a carriage on the palace grounds.”

The “Tiny Dancer” crooner was famously tight with Princess Diana and even performed “Candle in the Wind” at her funeral in 1997. His relationship with the royals remains strong, with John saying in an interview of Prince Harry and Prince William, “Both those boys seem to be ecstatically happy and that’s all you want people to be, no matter who they are.” 

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, the Dawson’s Creek alum tweeted, “I woke up WAY too excited about the royal engagement news.”

The Lip Sync Battle host once tweeted she was “invested” in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship.

The Grammy winner got to meet William, Kate, Charles and Camilla at the September 2021 premiere of No Time to Die, for which she penned the theme song. While “there was a whole list” of guidelines to follow at the event amid the coronavirus pandemic, Eilish didn’t stick to the rule book. 

“But I tried to. I was planning on it and they were just so normal,” she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the following month. “They didn’t make me feel like, ‘Oh, I’m scared, I can’t talk to them.’ They were very complimentary and they had all these questions for me. They were just very friendly and funny and sweet. I don’t know, I can’t complain. It was amazing.”

During an interview with Tatler in January 2022, Roberts recalled how starring in 2008’s Wild Child came at the perfect time.

“I was obsessed with the royals, obsessed with having an English accent,” she shared. “When I realized that the role meant filming in England for a summer, I felt my life was about to start. I bought my first leather jacket in London and my first leopard print coat. Living there really influenced what I was into.”

The country singer weighed in on the “fascination” surrounding the British royal family after Harry & Meghan hit Netflix in December 2022. “This profound hatred and annoyance at Meghan Markle specifically — mostly coming from women, I have to say — it’s unfathomable to me. People are saying, ‘Oh, a woman should never take a man away from his family. That’s all that this is.’ … This all feels very pointed at one woman, as it mostly always has [been] in history,” Morris said in a TikTok video.
