Can the flood of lies around Ukraine and Russia be stopped?

Published

on

As someone who worked directly on the CIA’s propaganda campaign in Afghanistan in 1985-86, I feel somewhat qualified to comment on the scale and scope of the current propaganda campaign aimed at garnering support in the West for Ukraine and galvanizing international outrage against Russia. It’s gigantic and out of control.

where do I start? What about the failure of the Kerch bridge? At first, the explosion on the western part of the bridge was celebrated as a colossal victory for Ukraine and a bitter defeat for Russia. The Associated Press account represents media reactions:

Saturday’s explosion caused a partial collapse of the bridge linking Crimea to Russia, damaging an important supply artery for the Kremlin’s stumble. war effort in southern Ukraine and struck a prominent symbol of Russian power in the region.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blast, which killed three people. The head of the Russian-backed regional parliament in Crimea accused Ukraine, but Moscow did not assign blame. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly threatened to strike the bridge and some praised the destruction on Saturday. But Kyiv declined to claim responsibility.

Any lingering doubt that this bridge bombing was the work of the Ukrainians was erased when Kyiv released a sample stamp to be issued in November to celebrate the victory over the Russians:

There is no government in the world that can create works of art and obtain bureaucratic approval to commemorate a terrorist attack in the short period of time in which Ukraine is alleged to have operated. This was a fiery gesture of questionable intelligence – kind of like hitting a soccer ball and hitting yourself in stones:

So, today Ukraine is trying to downplay its responsibility for the failed mission of removing the Kerch bridge (yes, it failed, because traffic still flows across the bridge) and some more mentally challenged Kyiv supporters insisted that this was a Russian FSB op. An email from one of those clowns, Mr. Lin, who wrote:

I 💯% Reagan “We win lose” and they lose. Significantly. By the way, the Ukrainians had nothing to do with the bridge, this was the total work of the FSB.

I understood you? These Russians are so smart and powerful that they tricked the Ukrainians into creating a stamp with two explosions on the Kerch Bridge. Russia can do anything, it seems, when the West wants to portray Moscow as the goliath of the 21st century.

I think the Russian intelligence had some information about this plot and the people involved in it before the explosion. why? Because of how quickly the FSB began arresting the alleged conspirators.

But the Kerch Bridge fiasco appears to be a small white lie compared to the brutal evasiveness of the Biden administration today in its publication of the 2022 National Security Strategy. Check out this massive one (see page 25):

Over the past decade, the Russian government has chosen to pursue an imperial foreign policy with the goal of overturning the basic elements of the international system. This culminated in a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in an attempt to overthrow its government and bring it under Russian control. But this attack did not come from a vacuum. It was preceded by Russia’s 2014 invasion of Ukraine, its military intervention in Syria, its longstanding efforts to destabilize its neighbors using intelligence and cyber capabilities, and its blatant attempts to undermine internal democratic processes in countries across Europe and Central Asia and around the world. . Russia also brazenly interfered in American politics and worked to sow divisions among the American people. Russia’s destabilizing actions are not limited to the international arena. At home, the Russian government under President Putin is violating the human rights of its citizens, suppressing dissent, and shutting down independent media. Russia now has a stagnant political system that does not respond to the needs of its people.

Lots of lies packed into this paragraph. For starters, Biden’s team appears to be engaging in psychological projection when it declares that Russia is pursuing an “imperial foreign policy” aimed at “overturning essential elements of the international order.” What? Russia did not “invade” Donbass in 2014. Ukraine did. Russia did not unilaterally intervene in Syria, and was asked to provide military assistance. It was the United States that violated the supposedly sacred international order by helping engineer the coup that ousted the democratically elected president of Ukraine in 2014, toppled the regime of Muammar Gaddafi and provided the radical Islamists in Syria with weapons and training who tried to overthrow the Syrian president. Happiest. Pot calls kettle black anyone?

Bidens clearly do not understand the concept of sarcasm. On the same day the Biden administration released its national security strategy and accused Russia of “brazen” interference in US politics, the US attorney general John Durham was interrogating FBI agents in federal court and getting them to admit that Steele’s dossier, which was one of the premises of the investigation of Donald Trump for collaborating with Russia to steal the 2016 election, was a lie. FBI agent Auten admitted under questioning that there was no evidence of the outlandish allegations in Steele’s file:

Q: And between September 19, 2016 and October 21, when the FBI filed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) application, were you able to confirm or confirm the very serious allegations made in the file reports in any of the FBI system?

A: No.

The FBI also conducted inquiries with other members of the intelligence community to find supporting information. They came empty.

Q: And what can you tell jurors whether or not any of the intelligence agencies that the FBI contacted for supporting information provided any supporting information?

A: We have received information from a number of different agencies.

Q: Then, for the information you received from the agencies, have you confirmed the privacy of the specific allegations made in the file reports?

A: It does not support the specific claims, no.

Simply put, the baseless claim that Trump is colluding with Russia was a complete hoax. Untruthful. giant lie. But that fact didn’t stop the Bidens from trying to keep that shit afloat in the beating bowl.

The penultimate sentence in the opening paragraph about Russia is further evidence of the Biden administration’s utter lack of self-awareness:

Domestically, the Russian government under President Putin is violating the human rights of its citizens, suppressing dissent, and shutting down independent media.

This bizarre statement from an administration that has locked up hundreds of protesters for trespassing, uses the FBI to arrest and harass political opponents, and routinely presses social media to crush anyone who dares challenge the administration’s failed policies. Alex Berenson is a stark example of this abuse. His attempts to report the failure of Covid vaccines were quashed by Twitter with the full encouragement of the US government. However, Biden wants the American public to believe the lie that the greatest threat to their freedom comes from Russia when it is his government and his policies that strip away constitutionally protected rights.

The flow of propaganda and misinformation about Russia and what is going on in Ukraine is not likely to subside in the near term. Indeed, Biden and his team appear to be redoubling their efforts to spread outlandish lies. Here is Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s latest delirium:

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Wednesday He praised Ukraine’s “extraordinary gains on the battlefield”, Which he attributed in part to “vital” support from NATO allies, including billions of dollars in military aid, along with humanitarian and financial aid.

“Despite Putin’s new attacks, Ukrainian forces have changed the dynamics of this war,” Austin said at a two-day meeting of NATO defense ministers at the alliance’s headquarters in Brussels.

They liberated hundreds of cities from Russian occupation. they did Regained thousands of square kilometers said Austin, who chaired the meeting of the U.S.-led Ukrainian Defense Contact Group.

Does Austin consider Ukraine’s failure to stop Russian missile strikes in the past two days an “extraordinary gain” by the Ukrainians? As long as this kind of delusion pervades Western leaders, the massacre of Ukrainians will continue. If you encounter someone who insists that such lies do not cause permanent harm, you should arrange a trip for that person to the cemeteries that fill all over Ukraine.
