Biden smashes Republican dreams by recalling recession predictions

In an interview with CNN, President Biden was not buying into predictions that the United States would slide into a recession.

Biden video:

Jake Tapper asked Biden if the American people should prepare for a recession.

The president replied:

no. Look, they’ve been saying this now every six months they’re saying every six months they’re looking down on the next six months and saying what’s going to happen. It hasn’t happened yet. There is no – there is no guarantee that they are – I don’t think there will be a recession. If so, it would be a slight slack.

So we’re going to move down a little bit. Look, think about what happened. We’ve done more – we’re better off economically and politically than any other major country in the world. We still had real problems, but look what we’ve accomplished. We’ve passed a lot of legislation that pretty much clarifies, you know, for example, the American bailout, the legislation that deals with inflation – the inflation act. We’ve advanced–I mean, there’s a lot done to the idea that something–

Tapper reminded the president that he had said a slight recession was possible, and Biden continued:

It is possible. It’s possible. I do not expect that. But I think — look, we’re talking about the effect on families. Families – they have reason to worry about energy prices. They have reason to worry about a whole host of issues. But look what we did. We’ve been able to – Act to reduce inflation.

I know I always quote my dad, but my dad used to say, Is there any breathing room for a middle-class family? And breathing room after paying all the bills at the end of the month if anything remains. There is more than one way to reduce the cost and monthly cost for people who, in fact, struggle to ensure that their needs are met and they have enough money.

Biden is right. Wall Street wants a recession because it will help the markets because they assume it will lead to lower interest rates.

The problem is that those who predict a recession do so based on conventional economic wisdom, but the global economy has never been somewhere beyond the global pandemic. There is no precedent for what is happening now.

The US is in better shape than the rest of the world, thanks to Biden and Democrats, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Wall Street Republican predicted that a recession never happened.

Nikki Scandino has been charged with murder and other crimes after police initially believed her father, Carlo Secondino, had been stabbed to death during an early morning home invasion at their Bensonhurst home.

But the tale quickly unraveled and the alleged killer was also charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the horrific attack in which her 19-year-old sister was stabbed.

The younger sister was taken to Maimonides Hospital in critical condition.
