We are not in a recession! In the age of bad to terrifying news, this is a welcome change. Didn’t you hear? Perhaps this is because the media was only prepared for the story of their tragic disaster.
But more importantly: what will the Republican Party do now that the economy is not collapsing?
Upon news that the United States created 263,000 jobs last month and an unemployment rate of 3.5%, Justin Wolfers, Professor and Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, analyzed the September numbers as very good news, “This is an economy that’s still growing well. All this talk of a recession has been empty.” “.
All is not well economically – Americans are scared as interest rates are rising and the stock market is helping itself with their retirement investments. But the Democratic Titanic that the Republicans were drooling over and the media was preparing for was suspended.
Oh, the disappointment they must have been feeling this morning.
There is nothing Republicans would love more than to destroy the United States if there was a Democrat in the White House, and no one would love to help them spread their empty hysteria and theater of dishonest criticism more than the institutional media.
Republican criticism is disingenuous because they do not offer solutions.
They rarely have actual policy solutions to address the problems they pin on Democrats – sometimes because the problems don’t really fall within the purview of Democrats or Republicans, but even when they do, Republicans are constantly shouting on cable TV pointing their fingers at Democrats and then when they take office They do nothing to address these issues. They don’t even offer solutions while yelling about the problem, oddly enough, they are rarely asked to offer any.
When Republicans are in power, they focus on seizing more power, aiding the oligarchy and their corporations that donate to the Republican Party, and going after critics and political opponents with government levers. Oh, and try to get rid of Social Security, Medicare, and Affordable Medicare while eliminating basic human rights.
Currently, Republicans learn lessons from authoritarianism expert Viktor Orbán on how to attack democracy from within. (Hint: it involves using the courts and the media to weaken democracy. Just like what’s happening here.)
Hungary can no longer be called a full democracy under Orbán: The European Parliament voted to approve the report on Thursday, which accused Prime Minister Viktor Orban of creating an “electoral tyranny.”
The Democrats were expected to be utterly destroyed by the Republicans because this midterm election and they are in the White House. Republicans turn up more in midterms, public often give opposing midterm elections, maps, House divisions, gas prices were high – then down, but now The Saudis and Russia seem eager to help their fellow Republicans here by charging higher gas prices The economy has been challenged by a variety of global issues.
Sure, Democrats have pretty much got the country back on track after the global turmoil of Covid and they’ve been through wave after wave wave of legislation To actually help people. But who cares, right?
Theater-oriented Republican theater plays make for better television. Nobody wants to hear about the actual policies. This is the era of post-reality TV prime! Make it crazy, messy and dangerous or go home.
But then Roe was overturned by Clarence Thomas Supreme Court Republicans, Trump was arrested for stealing top-secret documents, the January 6 commission revealed shocking details about Trump’s domestic terrorist attack during his January 6 coup attempt, and we learned more about the work of Republican-elected To help Trump steal the 2020 election through a variety of immoral and illegal schemes to defraud the American people. Republicans are basically anti-freedom and anti-democratic, but their base loves it because they are foolish enough to think that only liberals will be attacked.
Even with all these problems, good job numbers, GOP ran 299 Election Deniers -Yes, that’s right, anti-freedom election deniers are the majority of their candidates – Senate Democrats may keep it and keep it a distant hope.
why? Because the media is letting us down. They do not tell the story of the Republican attack on democracy in a coherent way. They don’t explain what things mean.
The economy does not collapse. But do you know what the media is kind of silent about? our democracy.
But you have the power to do something about it.
Commit to bringing at least five people to the polls to vote, volunteer at critical races, and donate *directly* to candidates in need. (Suggest not giving your money to anyone/SuperPACs claiming to be sharing it with candidates due to lack of transparency.)
