Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, died on Sunday. Now, as an autopsy has been performed, new harrowing details about his death have emerged.
Supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband, businessman Rande Gerber’s, have lost their son, Presley Gerber. He died on Sunday at only 27 years old.
The family shared a statement through their spokesperson, saying that they are “asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Presley Gerber had been struggling with substance abuse for a decade. He had been very open about his mental health and substance abuse during both public appearances as well as on his social media account before he died.
Gerber was staying at Resolutions Living, a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica, California, when he died. On Monday, the Santa Monica police shared a statement saying officials are investigating the death of Cindy Crawford’s son as a suspected overdose.
Per People Magazine, the Medical Examiner said, “Death was pronounced at 09:45 hours on September 20, 2026, by responding paramedics. The Santa Monica Police Department is the investigating law enforcement agency.”
“At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The investigation remains ongoing,” it read.

Shortly after, the Medical Examiner’s office released a new statement, saying that they were in the “early stages of investigating” Presley Gerber’s death, and that there is “limited information” at the time.
On Monday, the autopsy was completed. In a separate statement shared shortly thereafter, the Medical Examiner’s office added that they were in “the early stages of investigating” Presley’s death, and that “limited information is currently available.
Per People Magazine, a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s report states that there is still no official cause of death. The Department of Medical Examiner stated that it could take months before the official cause of death is determined.
“A deputy medical examiner performed an examination today, and the cause and manner of death have been deferred, which means additional testing and/or studies were requested in order to make a determination, a Department of Medical Examiner statement read.
“Due to the ongoing death investigation, the [deputy medical examiner] cannot disclose what testing and/or studies were requested. Deferred cases can take a few months before a cause of death is determined.”
